Reduced stocking of Chinook salmon would, however, still support a substantial population of this popular angling species, which is a large contributor to the Great Lakes multi-billion-dollar recreational fishery. ![]() The research, recently published by the US Geological Survey and Michigan State University, reveals that an increase in invasive mussels coupled with a decrease in nutrients from tributaries have altered the lake’s ecosystem.
